Flames tackle football begins in July with a week of mandatory conditioning (10 hours), followed by a week of evaluations.
Evaluations are run by the coaches and allow them to define your son's skill levels and most appropriate positions. It also allows the coaches to begin to formulate their draft choices, which takes place the week following.
Your son will be placed into a level – Pac 10, Mac 10, or Big 10 – and will then be chosen by a coach during the draft. There may be more than one Pac 10 team at any given weight level.
Once assigned to a team, your son will have practices each night, Monday through Friday, until school starts. Once school begins, each team typically has three practices per week (usually between 5:30 and 7:30, as light allows) and one game each weekend.
